The Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies [SPLAS] Forum is a two-day annual event based at the University of Nottingham. The interdisciplinary Forum welcomes postgraduate students and early-career researchers as well as artists and writers who are working on projects related to the study of the Hispanic and Lusophone world.

Running for the 14th year, this edition will work around the theme “Gender and Resistance”. The Forum will continue its tradition of connecting SPLAS studies with artistic performance, and will be hosting poetry readings from the Latino collective of poets ‘Invisible Presence‘. We are also delighted to have Dr Courtney Campbell (University of Birmingham) delivering the keynote address.

The Forum aims to encourage researchers to present to their peers and to established academics in a friendly and stimulating environment. The Call for Papers is now open and the deadline to submit abstracts is the 29th March 2019.
